How to Carve On a Skateboard

This is a very important aspect of skateboarding that you will need to master as a skateboarder. Many skateboarders ask the question, “How do I carve on a skateboard?”. Carving is all about leaning on your heelside or your toeside to make the board turn where you want it to.

To put this theory into practice, gain some speed on your skateboard and apply a good amount of weight on your heels or your toes. You’ll notice that you’re turning into the direction of weight applied. You’ll also notice that the more weight you apply, the sharper your turn will be. Practice curving, such as go against a curb or some other object while trying to avoid it.

Leaning your body towards the direction you want to turn will make it much easier to complete the turn. Bending your knees and crouching low will also make it easier to control your turns. Carving is one of the essentials of basic skateboarding, and you will be using it most of the time.
